Photograph is looking west along Sea Gate beach from West 37th Street and the Boardwalk. In 1995 the Army Corps of Engineers began large scale sand replenishment along the length of the publicly-owned Coney Island beach. The privately owned Sea Gate beach was included because of adverse effects the filling was expected to have on the Sea Gate shoreline.
