Frankly, we thought it was obvious that a hot dog presented in a block of ice with a soggy bun, an original receipt from Feltman's and a toy fish that looked like a carnival prize was a lighthearted publicity event not meant to be taken seriously. We were surprised and delighted by the media coverage and the millions of people in our great hot dog eating nation who ate up the story on the Internet and Twitter. We'd like to say "thank you" to everyone who believed in the hot dog even if just for a moment and helped put good ol' Coney Island at the top of the news.
