In 2002 the Parachute Jump was disassembled for a thorough structural rehabilitation and repainting. Sections of the Jump were placed in the parking lot of Keyspan Park for sand blasting, painting and member replacement. The base and first 100 feet of tower were rehabilitated in place. The interior of the base is shown here, where a side wall meets the ceiling. The ceiling was made from concrete sections that formed the floor of the Jump's machinery room. Prior to the 2002 - 2003 rehabilitation, some machinery was still intact.
