Steeplechase Park from Surf Avenue, 1920

Part of Steeplechase Park's Surf Avenue frontage near West 16th Street, c. 1920. The ornate entrance in the foreground is composed of elements from the exterior of the Eldorado carousel. The lions on the plinth below the entrance's Funny Face are the famous zinc lions that later decorated the park's Bowery entrance.

Caption on back reads "Steeplechase Park, Coney Island is one of the largest amusement enterprises in Coney Island. It contains a large swimming pool, numerous amusement devices and other concessions covering several acres of ground and is one of the most popular spots in this great resort."
