Martine Emile grew up in Coney Island after moving to Sea Rise apartments with her family in 1984. Her interest in photography was sparked at a young age with the gift of a camera from her father. Photography programs for teens in the community and at John Dewey High School taught her such skills as shooting in natural light and developing film in a dark room.

Emile recounts transitioning from street  and concert photography to cinematography with her work on a series of indie films directed by Eric Rivas.  Vamp Bikers Dos (2015) and Vamp Bikers Tres, currently in production, were both shot in Coney Island.
