Long Lost PS 80

Dear Mr. Coney Island...
Do you have any pictures of the old school PS 80. It was on West 18th Street. I went to school there back in 1967. Thank you very much.

Does anyone remember playing basketball at PS 80 with the gym teacher said n the early 1970’s…I forgot his name.

I’m looking for anybody that went to the school
1970 to 1976 that still has thier class photos or where I could find them. They have to be Archived somewhere and videos too.I remember the principal went around class to class with a huge video camera something that was used for tv news

I have my father laws 1937 graduate pin from PS 80 and am going through many of his belongings. He grew up on Mermaid ave.

It is such fun reminiscing about the good old days in Coney Island 👍🏽

I lived on W. 16th St. right around the corner from PS 80. I remember my kindergarten tcr. Mrs. Kirstein. She could sing like a bird and play the piano too. I remember the two Miss Fryes. They were sisters. Both first grade teachers. But Mr. Finn I remember the most. He wrote a fictional musical play about Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. He wrote all the music which went all the way to the "Children's Hour" TV show. He was brilliant!!! He should have produced musical plays on Broadway. I was in PS 80 from 1948 until 1954. Those were the days.

I lived on W. 25th street between mermaid & Neptune aves. & started p.s.80 in 1939 & mark twain in 1945. I was a terrible student & played hooky often. Fished off steeple chase pier & gravesend bay. I remember in p.s. school, Bertram Smith & Gwen Davis in my class. Went on to Lincoln highn& Jamaica high & wound up in Kew Gardens Hills. Went to college & became a Chiropractor in Merrick, L.I. Retired & have been living in Park City, Utah- a skier. I also taught in Colombia Chiropractic College for 10 years. Traveled all over the world. Wish I could do it all over again- but with my beautiful Bernice. God loves you & peace be with you. Love!

I am just wondering about the photo. I've never known of any "newer" 1920's Public School buildings to have been demolished in NYC, not even at present (2024).

1974-1976 I went to school there Gail Weismann was my teacher and She was the best teacher ever.. We would dress alike sometimes.. When I left there I went to Mark Twain I lived in 27th street between Neptune and Mermaid Ave .. We then moved to Gravesend Housing.
