Richard White, 62, shares his boyhood memories of Steeplechase Park, which he says was his family's "vacation place." He recalls his father working as a safety officer and rescuing riders who got stuck on the Parachute Jump. Richard also remembers riding the Jump when he was 10 years old with his uncle. Currently a marine science teacher at Edward R. Murrow High School, he recorded this interview at Coney Island Creek, where his students were working  a community project.

This interview was recorded on It's My Estuary Day, an annual day of service, learning and celebration featuring over 40 partner organizations at Coney Island Creek in Kaiser Park.
