Dionne Brown (D.L. Jordan)

Lifelong Coney Island resident and author of Living Life Like It's Golden

Dionne Brown, who has lived in Coney Island all her life, also works here.  She grew up in Surfside Gardens and attended Surfside School (PS 329), Bay Academy, Lincoln High School, and Kingsborough Community College.  A love of reading was instilled by her mother, a teacher who required her three daughters to do book reports over summer vacation. Writing as D.L. Jordan, she is the author of Living Life Like It's Golden, which describes the epiphany she reached when she turned 40 "with no plans of doing so." The book's subtitle is "The Latter Years of My Life Shall Be the BEST Years of My Life!" A week after her birthday, she enrolled in college and finished three degrees in five years.
